Land secured for trail

? The final piece of land for the proposed Homestead Trail in Kansas and Nebraska has been purchased.

The Nebraska Trails Foundation paid Union Pacific Railroad $10,000 for an 8.5-mile rail line from Marietta, Kan., to Marysville, Kan.

The proposed recreation trail would run from Lincoln to Marysville. The Homestead Trail is so named because the main corridor runs near the Homestead National Monument at Beatrice.
