Old home town – 100 years ago today
From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 11, 1905: “Charles Stoke of Lamont, Okla., and Libbie Painter of Lawrence were married yesterday afternoon at the new Lutheran parsonage by the Rev. E. Stauffer. It was the first marriage performed in the new parsonage. : A full line of sure-edge cutlery was featured at the opening of the new Kennedy and Ernst Hardware Store at 825 Mass. There are countless other goods of note to be seen and had at a place that seems sure to become popular. : Officials of the Oklahoma and Indian Territory want statehood but they say they do not want prohibition. Other areas share that view and there are many arguments both ways.”
