Veritas boys make it five straight

? Mark Randtke led three scorers in double figures Tuesday night as the Veritas Christian boys basketball team stayed perfect with a 54-39 victory over Topeka Cornerstone.

Marcus Holman added 15 points for the Eagles (5-0), and Casey Woods chipped in 10.

Veritas was 15-of-17 from the free-throw line.

“It’s great to be off to a 5-0 start. We’re primarily doing it by good, hard defense and hitting the boards,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said.

“Our offense is still not quite in rhythm, but hopefully that will happen by Friday, because (Topeka) Cair Paravel’s going to be our toughest challenge so far.”

Friday’s game will be the Eagles’ home opener. It is scheduled to tip off at 8:15 p.m. at the Eudora Community Center.
