Texas A&M holds off North Texas

? Joseph Jones scored 35 points and had 13 rebounds as Texas A&M held on for a 72-70 victory over North Texas on Tuesday night.

Jones gave the Aggies a 72-68 lead when he hit two free throws with 1:03 left. North Texas (2-3) cut the lead to 72-70 on two free throws by Kendrick Davis. Davis, who finished with 21 points, missed a fade-away 3-pointer as time expired.

Jones scored hit 9-of-15 from the field and 16-of-19 from the free throw line. Acie Law added 10 points for the Aggies (5-0).

Davis and Calvin Watson combined for 30 of North Texas’ 39 second-half points. Watson finished with 22 points, 18 of those in the second half.

Texas A&M led 38-31 at the half after closing with a 12-4 run.
