From the Lawrence Daily World for Dec. 7, 1905: "Football, or at least football as it is played today, is on the wane. There is a demand for a change in the rules that will make it less brutal. The stand that several schools have taken in prohibiting football shows the signs of the times. : George Chambers who lives on a farm southeast of Lawrence was in the city yesterday with a large new touring car. Some months ago, he purchased a small runabout and enjoyed automobiling so much that nothing but a large car would satisfy him."
