KU faculty elected to national commissions

Two faculty members in Kansas University’s School of Fine Arts were recently elected as members of national arts commissions. Larry Mallett, chairman of the Department of Music and Dance, was elected to the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) Commission on Accreditation. Lois Greene, professor of design, was selected for the Commission on Accreditation for the National Association of Schools of Art & Design (NASAD).

NASM is the national accrediting agency for music programs in higher education in the United States. Mallett has been a NASM visiting evaluator for 15 years and has administered music and dance programs for 20 years.

NASAD is the national accrediting agency for art and design programs in higher education in the U.S. Greene, who has administered design programs at KU for 32 years, represented KU as the institutional voting member for NASAD for four years, was a member of the organization’s nominations committee for three years and has presented papers at the NASAD national conference on the topics of financial management and emerging technology in art and design.
