Douglas County Family and Community Education Council met Nov. 8 in Deal Six Auditorium.
Myrna Hartford, president, reported that Mayor Boog Highberger signed the FCE Week Proclamation at the Oct. 4 city commission meeting.
The FCE Northeast area meeting was Nov. 3 in Manhattan. The Rachel Purvis family received the FCE Area Family Award, and Myrna Hartford received the Heart of FCE Area Award.
Susan Krumm, Extension agent in family and consumer sciences at K-State Research and Extension-Douglas County, passed out information about the next PATH program which will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Feb. 14 to April 20 in Building 21 at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds.
Darlene Bright said the next Red Cross blood drive will be Dec. 22 at First Christian Church. India and Kaw Valley FCE units will each furnish five dozen cookies.
New officers for the 2006 FCE Council were recognized. They are: Myrna Hartford, president; Judy Wulfkuhle, vice president; Genny Hunsinger, secretary; Eda Thomason, treasurer; and Darlene Bright, public relations.
Rachel Purvis was appointed chairwoman of the Out of County Tours. Darlene Bright was appointed Red Cross Cookie chairwoman.
The next FCE Council meeting will be Jan. 10.
¢ Douglas County Family and Community Education in cooperation with K-State Research & Extension Family and Consumer Sciences is offering a program “Identity Theft” at 9:30 a.m. Friday in the Deal Six Auditorium at the Douglas County 4-H Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper St.
The program will be presented by Sarah Elsen, consumer specialist for the attorney general’s office. She will talk about how to thwart identity theft as well as what to do if you become a victim.
To register, call the Extension Office at 843-7058. The program is open to the public.
