On you way out to hunt for gasoline under $3 a gallon today, you might grab an umbrella.
"There's a chance for a few thunderstorms late in the day," said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
"I think any thunderstorms that do erupt should dissipate by later tonight."
Unlike gasoline prices, which have been rising this week because of the impact of Hurricane Katrina on crude oil prices, temperatures in Lawrence have remained in the 60s for the morning lows and the upper 80s for the highs.
At 7 a.m. today at Lawrence Municipal Airport, the temperature was 65, the humidity level was 93 percent and winds were from the southeast at 3 mph
Schack said today's high will reach 88 degrees, with a cold front moving in from the northwest bringing an isolated chance for a few thunderstorms this afternoon. The National Weather Service said the chance for storms was 20 percent.
Overnight, the temperature will dip to a low of 58 degrees by early Thursday morning and skies will clear. Thursday's high will be 84 under partly cloudy skies.
Friday's morning low will be 57 degrees, with the high climbing to 86 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

lj predicting this pretty much means there is no chance for storms today, but a great chance for some at a completely unnanounced date in the near future.
