Grab the sunglasses

Clear skies and warm conditions are on tap for the Lawrence area today, says Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

“It will be sunny, buy not sticky,” Schack said. Temperatures will climb to a high of 88 this afternoon, she said. “Grab those sunglasses.”

At 7:45 a.m., the temperature was 62 degrees, the humidity was 93 percent and winds were from the northwest at 5 mph. The only clouds were to the east, which were some high clouds associated with Tropical Storm Katrina that is making its way north through Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio today, Schack said.

Lawrence’s temperature will reach 84 by noon and around 87 degrees by 4 p.m., Schack said.

“We’ll top out about one or two degrees above average,” Schack said. The average high is 86 degrees, she said.

Overnight, Lawrence’s temperature will fall to 62 degrees by early Wednesday morning, with clear skies. Wednesday’s high will be 87 degrees.

A cold front will arrive late Wednesday, but any thunderstorm activity that it might create will be isolated, Schack said. The front will bring mostly clouds, she said.

Thursday’s morning low temperature will be 59. Thursday’s afternoon high temperature will be 85, with partly cloudy skies.
