Churches aiding Habitat project in Lawrence

Sixteen area churches are combining to construct a house for Habitat for Humanity this fall.

Sections of some of the house’s walls were framed at churches last Sunday, and some again will be framed this Sunday. Church members are writing their prayers and best wishes for the family of Bret and Kimberly Olsen, who will live in the house with their three sons.

The sections will be brought to the construction site at 1609 E. 25th St. Terrace at 9 a.m. on Sept. 10 for a nail-driving ceremony.

The churches involved are contributing funds and workers to build the house.

The churches involved are Centenary United Methodist, First Baptist, First Christian, First Presbyterian, First Southern Baptist, First United Methodist of Baldwin, First United Methodist of Lawrence, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Immanuel Lutheran, Latter Day Saints, Peace Mennonite, Plymouth Congregational, St. John the Evangelist, St. Margaret’s Episcopal, Trinity Episcopal and Trinity Lutheran.
