Kansas City, Mo.
Heat was a factor in the death of a man whose body was discovered earlier this month in a sweltering room, the Jackson County Medical Examiner's Office announced Wednesday.
The victim, who was identified only as a 57-year-old Kansas City man, had a pre-existing medical condition that may have made him more susceptible to the heat, the office said in a news release.
The body was discovered Aug. 9 after the man's caretaker returned from a weekend away. Temperatures in the room where the man died were estimated to be 90 degrees despite two fans.
