KU student wins music award

Dan Forrest, a Kansas University music and dance graduate student, recently received the $5,000 John Ness Beck first place award for his outstanding selected sacred choral anthem.

The John Ness Beck Foundation was established in 1987 to encourage the writing of traditional sacred choral music. In order to select the winner of this award, the Foundation created a panel of judges who nominated a group of choral compositions for award consideration. Forrest won with his setting of “The King of Love My Shepherd Is,” published by Beckenhorst Press in 2004.
