Wooden won’t go to WSU after all

Wichita State men’s basketball coach Mark Turgeon announced Monday that former Free State High standout Keith Wooden would not transfer to the Shockers as originally planned.

“Due to unresolved academic issues and Keith’s inability to communicate with our coaching staff this summer, he will not be a part of our program moving forward,” Turgeon said in a statement. “We certainly wish Keith the best in all his future endeavors.”

Wooden, who spent the last two seasons at Arizona State, announced this spring his intentions to transfer to Wichita State. He would have had to sit out the 2005-06 season due to NCAA transfer rules anyway, but now appears to be without a school.
