Daly forced to putt with sand wedge

? It wouldn’t be a major championship without another tale from John Daly. The king of the long-ball hitters became the first player to put a ball on the putting surface on the 650-yard 17th hole Saturday at the PGA Championship, but he had to putt with his sand wedge.

He said the epoxy fusing his putter head to the shaft came loose in the middle of the round, a persistent problem with his Redneck putter, a model made by his clubmaker, Dunlop.

He’s reaching the breaking point, having gone through several already in the past few days. The high humidity is zapping the glue, he believes.
