Spirit-packed events planned for fall

Kansas University has announced the following special events:

Jubilant fans climb the goalposts at Memorial Stadium after Kansas University defeated K-State Oct. 9, 2004, in Lawrence. The 31-28 win was the first in 11 years for KU. This fall, KU plays K-State in Manhattan on Oct. 8.

Sept. 10/Band Day

The 58th annual Band Day Parade will take place in downtown Lawrence, featuring the KU Marching Jayhawks and many high school marching bands from Kansas and Missouri. A mass band performance will take place at halftime of the KU football game against Appalachian State University.

Sept. 16-17/Family Weekend

Family Weekend will include the sixth annual Collage Concert on Sept. 16. The concert is a showcase of works by KU visual and performing arts students and faculty from the School of Fine Arts in a nonstop 90-minute format. On Sept. 17, the Department of Music and Dance will sponsor a “Day of Dance,” KU women’s volleyball will play the University of Oklahoma, and the day will culminate with the KU football game against Louisiana Tech University.

Oct. 22-29/Homecoming

Spirit Sprint, pep rally, parade and daily events. Homecoming will culminate with the Jayhawks taking on the rival Tigers of the University of Missouri on Saturday.
