Shock trip Lynx in OT

Katie Smith scored 13 points against her former team, and Deanna Nolan had all 12 of her points in the second half to lead the Detroit Shock past the Minnesota Lynx, 72-66 in overtime, Thursday night. The Shock (13-14) won their third straight and pulled one game behind New York and Washington, who are tied for the last two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference.

Svetlana Abrosimova led all scorers with 18 points and Detroit native Stacey Lovelace added 15 for Minnesota (13-15), which has lost four in a row on the road.

Sun 80, Mystics 65

Washington – Nykesha Sales scored 20 points, leading five Connecticut starters in double-figures. Former Mystic Asjha Jones and Taj McWilliams-Franklin each scored 15 points for the WNBA-leading Sun (22-6). Alana Beard had 18 points and Delisha Milton-Jones added 15 for the Mystics (14-13).

San Antonio – Tamika Catchings shrugged off a slow start and finished with a team-high 11 points, leading Indiana.

Marie Ferdinand scored a game-high 12 points for San Antonio (7-22), which lost its fourth straight.
