Nolan sparks Shock

? Deanna Nolan scored 20 points, and Swin Cash had season-highs of 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead Detroit to a 72-67 victory over New York on Sunday night.

Detroit, which lost by one at Houston and in double overtime at Charlotte in its last two games, beat the Liberty for the third time in four meetings this season.

Kara Braxton scored 12 points for the Shock (11-14), and Katie Smith added 11.

Becky Hammon led New York (13-13) with 18 points, while Ann Wauters had 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Lynx 76, Sparks 72

Minneapolis – Kristi Harrower had a season-high 15 points, and Minnesota snapped a five-game losing streak. Svetlana Abrosimova added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Lynx (12-14), who led by 20 points at halftime. Minnesota led 56-31 in the second half, but the Sparks made a late 14-1 run to pull within two points in the final seconds.

Mystics 61, Fever 60

Washington – Delisha Milton-Jones and Chasity Melvin both made two free throws in the final seven seconds for Washington. Milton-Jones’ foul shots gave the Mystics a 59-57 lead with 7.3 seconds left. The Fever (15-11) lost an offensive rebound out of bounds with 2.8 seconds left.

Monarchs 55, Comets 45

Sacramento, Calif. – Kara Lawson scored 13 points, including two late three-pointers, and Sacramento held Houston to the second-lowest point total in franchise history. The Comets scored 38 points in an 18-point loss at Phoenix on Aug. 14, 2001.
