Central United Methodist Church

Sunday: Children in kindergarten through sixth grades are invited to Sunday school. “How the Bible Came to Be” is the theme for August. Classes start at 9:30 a.m. in the lower-level education wing. Also, the Rev. Angela Lowe, Lawrence Memorial Hospital chaplain, will deliver the 10:45 a.m. worship service message.

Wednesday: Women are invited to the Esther/Mary Circle at 9:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall.

Sunday: Lanny Maddux, evangelist with Campus Christians at Kansas University for more than 20 years, will speak at 11 a.m. The mission is specifically related to ministering to international students and helps them obtain transportation, housing and information regarding the gospel of Christ. All are welcome.

Sunday: The Motet Singers will perform during the 9:30 a.m. traditional service, and communion will take place. The nursery and toddler rooms will be open.

Sunday: Joshua Bullock, Trinity’s summer intern, will present the Adult Forum at 9:30 a.m. in the parish hall. He will discuss Archbishop Thomas Becket; Becky Buchanan will lead the discussion on “Prophecy: Then and Now,” at the 40 Good Minutes Group, which meets at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel.

Thursday: Newcomers are welcome to Bible study at 7 p.m. in the youth room.

Sunday: The Rev. Darlene Strickland will observe her first anniversary as pastor of Unity Church with a message titled “A Hero’s Journey.” Stacy Buckley will provide special music at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
