SAN ANTONIO Chamique Holdsclaw scored a game-high 21 points, Doneeka Hodges added 17 and Lisa Leslie 16, leading the Los Angeles Sparks over the San Antonio Silver Stars, 66-63, Friday night.
Despite its reserves going scoreless on 0-for-11 shooting, Los Angeles broke a three-game losing streak and maintained hold on the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
The Sparks (12-12), playing their fifth game in an eight-game road trip, haven't missed the playoffs since 1998. They have 10 games remaining in the regular season.
Wendy Palmer-Daniel led the Silver Stars (7-20) with 17 points.
Mercury 80, Comets 75
Phoenix - Diana Taurasi had 27 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, leading Phoenix past Houston for its ninth victory in 11 games.
Phoenix (12-13) remained a half-game behind Los Angeles for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Sheryl Swoopes and Tina Thompson scored 18 points each for the Comets (15-11).
Houston played without leading rebounder and second-leading scorer Michelle Snow, who served a one game suspension Friday for fighting against Detroit on Tuesday.
Phoenix was without its third-leading scorer, Anna DeForge, who sprained her right ankle and is day-to-day.
