Lawrence is ranked as America's 72nd best sports city in the annual ratings of The Sporting News.
Among other area college towns, Manhattan was 85th, Lincoln, Neb., 88th and Columbia, Mo., 89th. Kansas City was ranked 36th and Wichita 139th.
TSN tapped Boston as the nation's top sports city for the third time in four years. The rankings appear in this week's issue of the magazine.
