"We see sprinkles in the morning and showers in the afternoon, with a little bit of sunshine in between," said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.

The pavement was dampened by some light rain early this morning in Lawrence, but not enough to measure at Lawrence Municipal Airport. At 8:30 a.m., the temperature at the airport was 77 degrees, the humidity was 79 percent and the heat index was 79 degrees. Winds were from the east at 3 mph.

Schack said the cold front was moving in from the north and west today and should arrive in Lawrence about midday, bringing scattered showers behind it. Today's high will reach 87 degrees, she said.

The National Weather Service says the chance for showers and thunderstorms is 40 percent today and 60 percent tonight. The chance for rain early Friday morning is 20 percent.

"We see our clouds decreasing tomorrow," Schack said.

Friday's morning low temperature will be 64 degrees, with Friday's high climbing to 85.

Saturday's morning low will be 62, with the high topping out at 89 degrees on Saturday afternoon, she said.
