Edith R. Keefer, Lawrence

Services for Edith R. Keefer, 99, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Baggerly Memorial Chapel in Oklahoma City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Oklahoma City.

Mrs. Keefer died Sunday, April 10, 2005, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.

She was born July 23, 1905, in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of A.J. and Anna Rosenfelder Richardson. She moved from Oklahoma City to Lawrence in October 1994. She was a summer resident of Westcliffe, Colo., for many years.

Mrs. Keefer and her husband owned and operated Keefer’s Garage in Oklahoma City. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, where she taught Sunday school, Girls’ Auxiliary and Women’s Missionary Union. She was also a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Lawrence.

She married Albert D. Keefer on June 25, 1930, in Oklahoma City. He died in February 1982.

Survivors include a son, James A. Keefer, Lawrence; a daughter, Carol A. Di Prete, East Greenwich, R.I.; a brother, William R. Richardson, Oklahoma City; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the chapel before the services.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice Care of Douglas County, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
