Charles Earl Martin, Lawrence

Masonic graveside services for Charles Earl Martin, 97, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Martin died Sunday, April 10, 2005, in Houston.

He was born Oct. 4, 1907, near Clinton, the son of Charles Edwin Martin and Jesse Ethel Willey. He graduated from Liberty Memorial High School.

Mr. Martin worked building houses and as a foreman or superintendent on many construction projects. He worked as a superintendent on a NATO-sponsored project in Turkey during the late 1950s. He worked in Iran on the Tehran International Airport in the early 1960s.

He married Goldie Elizabeth Elliott on May 12, 1928. She died April 24, 1977. He married Elsie Duncan Martin on July 9, 1978. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Ronald E., Houston; a daughter, Dolores A. Martin, Houston; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
