Area fishing report
CLINTON (Updated 4-6) — Water 5 degrees. Crappie fair. Some fish being caught around rocky areas in early morning and after sunset using jigs. Walleye fair off the face of dam using Rogues and Rapalas with most activity at night. Notes: A 10-inch minimum length limit and 20 daily creel limit on crappie, and an 18-inch minimum length limit on wiper went into effect Jan. 1. Walleye and sauger fry were stocked April 5.
PERRY (updated 4-5) — Water 53 degrees. Channel catfish fair to good on shad sides off windy banks. Fish are moving in shallow. Sauger fair on rocky points on west side towards dam on crankbaits and twisters. Fish nearing completion of spawn. White bass fair on rocky points with twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. Fish are moving up river. White crappie fair on tube jigs or minnows at 8-12 feet. Fish will be moving into shallow water soon. Note: Crappie daily creel limit of 20 now in effect.
DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 4-6) — Channel catfish fair using shad sides.
LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 4-6) — Wiper fair trolling crankbaits around sunset. Channel catfish fair using shad sides in the evening. Crappie fair using minnows and jigs off piers and over offshore structure in early morning and right after sunset. Walleye fair trolling crankbaits along face of dam after sunset. Note: Fall sampling showed large numbers and size of channel catfish. Crappie numbers were moderate, but size was good.
LONE STAR LAKE (updated 4-6) — Largemouth bass fair using plastic worms and crankbaits. Crappie fair using jigs around dam. Channel catfish fair using shad sides. Note: Fall sampling showed fair to good levels and sizes of most species, particularly channel catfish and bluegill.
