Shaffer-Birnbaum

Carol Shaffer and Brian Birnbaum, both of Denver, were married Dec. 18, 2004, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver with the Rev. Suzanne Smith officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Harriet Shaffer, Lawrence. The groom is the son of Fredrick and Roberta Birnbaum, Golden, Colo.

Matron of honor was Susie Fagan. Bridesmaids were Sara Hazel, Danika Rowe and Emily Smith. Best man was Brad Birnbaum. Groomsmen were Bobby Atencio, Aaron Atherton and Tony Vessa.

Flower girl was Erin Fagan. Steve Shaffer was reader. Guest book attendants were Shannon Wiley and Diane Baker.

A reception was given at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Denver.

The bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Kansas University. She received a master’s degree at the University of Colorado. She teaches in the Cherry Creek School District.

The groom is a graduate of Alameda High School, Lakewood, Colo. He received a bachelor’s degree at the Colorado School of Mines. He is a student in the medical school at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.

The couple reside in Denver.

Goodwin-Rush

Amanda Lee Goodwin, Lawrence, and Steven Edward Rush, Topeka, were married June 12, 2004, at Circle S Ranch in Lawrence with the Rev. David Showalther officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ronald and Donna Goodwin, Tonganoxie. The groom is the son of Michael and Jean Rush, McLouth.

Maid of honor was Lucy Basow. Best man was Ben Ehling. Bridesmaids were Andrea Smith and Heidi Carter. Junior bridesmaid was Taylor Rush. Groomsmen were Zac Stucky and Ryan Goodwin. Candle lighter was Deannae Wright. Ring bearer was Parker Lloyd. Flower girl was Avery Rush.

The bride’s personal attendant was T.J. Ehling. Ushers were Ryan Rush and Jason Rush. Guest book attendant was Nikki Horne. Program attendants were Amy Kearn and Kelley Kearn. Reception servers were Patricia Hallack, LaRissa Johnson and Janice Johnson. Music was provided by Lynn Basow and a string quartet. Videographers were Bob Basow and Terry Kearn.

A dinner and dance reception was given at the Circle S Ranch. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Puerto Vuerta, Mexico.

The bride is a 1999 Lawrence High School graduate. She received an associate’s degree in 2001 from Highland Community College. She received a bachelor’s degree in secondary math education in 2004 from Kansas State University. She teaches at Washburn Rural High School in Topeka.

The groom is a 1999 Nickerson High School graduate. He received an associate’s degree in 2003 from Highland Community College. He plans to graduate in May from Washburn University with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He also works part time at The Home Depot.

The couple reside in Topeka.

Ferguson-Murrison

Christi P. Ferguson, Burnet, Texas, and Paul R. Murrison, Rockwall, Texas, were married Feb. 26, 2005, at The Chapel at Chestnut Square in McKinney, Texas, with the Rev. Brett R. Foster officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Walter and Sandra Schwartz, Burnet, Texas, and David and Janean Ferguson, Georgetown, Texas. The groom is the son of Gary and Vicki Murrison, Lawrence.

Maid of honor was Cara Moore. Bridesmaids were Nicole Lester, Kai Schnautz, Wendy Hobbs and Kimberly Ross. Best man was Gregory Strahm. Groomsmen were David Wernli, Greg Ohlemacher, Gavin McMahon and Fred Colberg. Ushers were Todd Morris and Blake Morris.

Paul and Christi Murrison

A reception was given at the El Dorado Country Club in McKinney, Texas. The couple took a honeymoon trip to Lake Tahoe, Calif.

The bride is a 1986 graduate of Burnet High School and a 1990 graduate of Southwest Texas State University, San Marcos, Texas. She is a flight attendant for Southwest Airlines.

The groom is a 1987 graduate of Lawrence High School and a 1993 graduate of Kansas State University. He is the food and beverage director for Thorntree Country Club in DeSoto, Texas.

The couple reside in Rockwall, Texas.
