Seahawks open program with bang

? Seabury Academy’s tennis squad started its program on an incredibly high note, routing Kansas City (Mo.) Lincoln Prep, 11-1, on Thursday.

Seabury won five of six singles matches and all three doubles matches. Charlie Moffett, Grayson Dillon, Ashley Woolsey, Max Cannon and Allen Park won in singles, and the tandems of Moffett/Dillon, Brooke Sutherland/Woolsey and Cannon/Park cruised to doubles victories.

And Seabury’s only loss, Brooke Sutherland at No. 2 singles, lost a tough 9-8 decision to Lincoln Prep’s Tony Murphy.

“All in all, it was a near-perfect night,” Seabury coach Marcus Heckman said. “It was the first tennis meet in the history of the school, and I am thrilled with our performance. We played with confidence and poise, and showed signs of great things to come this season.”

Seabury will play host to Shawnee Maranatha at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
