Mat Champs: Prairie Fire Wrestling Club’s Amanda Morris, Deidre Housworth, Jessica Bowman and Shelly Bowman earned gold medals last weekend at the Missouri Valley Showcase of Women Wrestling. Dottie Housworth earned a second place, and Brittany Brown and Michaela Hyman posted thirds.

Baldwin Wrestlers: Bryce Shoemaker of the Baldwin Wrestling Club earned a second place at the USA Wrestling Kids National Folkstyle Championships in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Baldwin’s Jack Mitchell and Alan Callahan posted fifth places and earned All-America ratings.

Run for Life Winner: Dee Boeck of Lawrence won the women’s ages 55-59 division of the 10-mile Run for Life on Saturday in Topeka. Two Lawrence runners — Molly McVey and Karen Hyde — placed second in their age groups, while Elizabeth Weeks, Becky McClure and Fran Breslauer posted thirds.

Juhl Double Eagle: Free State High golfer Blaine Juhl used a driver and a 5-iron for a double eagle at the par-5, 490-yard No. 9 hole Sunday at Eagle Bend. Juhl was playing with his father, Ted Juhl, who witnessed the double eagle.
