Michael C. Hawkins, Lawrence

Services with military honors for Michael C. “Mike” Hawkins, 66, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Mr. Hawkins died Wednesday, April 6, 2005, at his home.

He was born Dec. 1, 1938, in Cadillac, Mich., the son of Clyde L. and Vera L. Gibson Hawkins. He graduated from Cadillac High School.

Mr. Hawkins served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1962. He was a truck driver for Topeka Transfer and Storage for 32 years and retired in 2000.

He married Margaret S. Parkstone on Aug. 13, 1960, in Aiken, S.C., She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Mark Parkstone, Coronado, Calif., and Steven Hawkins, Lawrence; three daughters, Patricia Hawkins, Lawrence, Lisa Green, Eudora, and Annette Lickteig, Liberal; two brothers, Clyde, Cadillac, and Willard, Topeka; three sisters, Betty Bailey, Saginaw, Mich., Iris Schmuck, Branch, Mich., and Mary Lamb, Cadillac; and eight grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home.
