Arvid Raymond Grover, Lawrence

A memorial gathering for Arvid Raymond Grover, 82, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion building. Inurnment will be at a later date in Forest Home Cemetery in Milwaukee.

Mr. Grover died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born Oct. 19, 1922, in Stockton, the son of Ira Lee and Mabel Clare Lambert Grover. He moved to Lawrence from Milwaukee in 1999.

Mr. Grover served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a journeyman printer for the Milwaukee Journal for many years. He was a member of Dorsey-Liberty Post No. 14 American Legion in Lawrence, Alvamar Country Club, Aerie 309 Eagles and the International Typographical Union.

He married Lorraine Ann Gleason on Jan. 12, 1946, in Milwaukee. She died Feb. 13, 1998.

Survivors include a son, Kenneth Ray, Orlando, Fla.; a daughter, Carole Jo Grover, Trinity, Texas; two brothers, Arland Lambert, Laramie, Wyo., and Orin Daniel, Lawrence; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
