Lena Davis

Services for Lena Davis, 99, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.

She was born Oct. 31, 1904, in Commerce, Mo., the daughter of John Robert House and Anna Magdalene Ledure. She moved with her family to Weld County, Colo., when she was 10 years old.

Mrs. Davis worked in the kitchen and the housekeeping and linen departments at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. She retired from LMH in 1984 after 39 years of service.

She married Clarence L. “Bud” Davis on Oct. 31, 1922, in Sterling, Colo. He died Oct. 26, 1976.

Three sons, John LeRoy Davis, Glenn E. Davis, and Donald Davis, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two granddaughters, Donna Davis, Oskaloosa, and Linda Easum, Lawrence; a grandson, Ronnie Davis, Geneseo, Ill.; a daughter-in-law, Jo Davis, Lawrence; five great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive them from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.

The family suggests memorials to the LMH Endowment Assn., sent in care of the funeral home.
