Jayhawks 4-1 at invite

? Kansas University’s tennis team went 4-1 in singles Sunday at the Hurricane Invitational.

Freshman Lauren Hommell (3-0) earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Wichita State’s Alejandra Ropoll. Freshman Stephanie Smith (3-0) knocked off WSU’s Genevieve Spink, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. KU’s two other victories were by junior Luiza Louriero (6-0, 6-3 over WSU’s Jackie Richey) and sophomore Ashley Filberth (6-4, 6-4 over WSU’s Wendi Webster). The Shockers’ Ana Exeni held off KU’s Christine Skoda, 6-4, 6-4.
