Loy Dean Knight

? Services for Loy Dean Knight, 70, Princeton, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Burial will be in Princeton Cemetery with military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 5901.

Mr. Knight died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at his home.

He was born April 8, 1934, in Fort Scott, the son of Seth Robert and Rubie Mae Guffey Knight. He graduated from Princeton High School in 1953 and was a lifelong resident of Franklin County.

Mr. Knight enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954 and retired as a technical sergeant in 1974. He served tours of duty in Vietnam and Thailand.

He was a propane gas delivery driver for Knight Oil Co. from 1974 to 1992. He also worked for Duke Manufacturing in Ottawa for three years.

Mr. Knight was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church, P.Q.S. Coffee Bunch, Night Crawlers Camping Club, VFW Post No. 5901 in Ottawa and Vietnam Veterans Assn. No. 912.

He married Clarice Belle Oswald on June 27, 1954, at Princeton United Methodist Church. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include four daughters, Debra Kay Stephenson, Scranton, Nancy Ann Woolery, Princeton, Cynthia Mae Medlen, Rantoul, and Donna Lou Mathena-Menke, Independence, Mo.; a brother, Robert Eugene, Princeton; a sister, Marcia Kay Knight, Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, where the family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.

The family suggests memorials to the church or Vietnam Veterans Assn. No. 912, sent in care of the mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa 66067.
