Ava Lynell Robinson

Services for Ava Lynell Robinson, 58, Lawrence, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Tonganoxie Christian Church. Burial will be at Hubbel Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie.

Mrs. Robinson died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

She was born Nov. 5, 1945, in Dodge City, the daughter of Ivan John “Ike” and Doris Ada Kiner Hasselman. She graduated from Dodge City High School in 1963 and received her Bachelor of Science degree in human development from Ottawa University in Kansas City, Kan., in 1999. She moved from Dodge City to Lawrence in 1982.

Mrs. Robinson was a self-employed quilter. She owned and operated Quilting Designs by Ava in Lawrence for five years. She also worked at Quilting Bits and Pieces in Eudora. She taught adult continuing education classes at Kansas City, Kansas Area Technical School and served as a volunteer for Cancer Action in Kansas City, Kan., Bloch Cancer Hotline in Kansas City, Mo., and Sunset Hill School in Lawrence.

She married Dan L. Robinson on July 25, 1965, in Dodge City. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Dane Robinson, Lawrence; a daughter, Amber Smith, Tonganoxie; and four grandchildren.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday at Lawrence Funeral Chapel, where the family will receive them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

The family suggests memorials to Tonganoxie Christian Church or Lawrence Wesleyan Church, sent in care of the funeral chapel.
