Plan of attack

Sen. John Kerry and his campaign are sharpening their attacks on President Bush.

It’s obvious John Kerry’s new team of advisers has taken control of his campaign and sharpened his attacks on President Bush.

Tuesday, Bush addressed the opening session of the United Nations with a speech that normally would have captured the headlines and been the lead story on television and radio. However, Kerry’s advisers decided to stage a hastily called press conference later that afternoon to find fault with the president’s speech and to attack Bush as being incompetent, a liar and not respected by the world’s leaders.

It’s obvious the timing and tone of Kerry’s press conference was designed primarily to take attention away from the president’s U.N. address.

It is clear Kerry and his team now believe their best strategy is to pull no punches, make any possible accusation, whether it’s accurate or not, and try to convince the public Kerry has all the answers on how to deal with the current domestic and foreign challenges facing Uncle Sam.

It will be a nasty campaign, and Tuesday’s press conference unveiled the strategy and tone.

Nothing Bush has done the past four years is right, according to Kerry, and the U.N. would have handled the Iraq and world terrorism situation far better than the United States under Bush policies.

Kerry has touted his “plan for America,” but he has failed to identify or disclose his plan, how it would operate, what it would cost, the taxes required to fund it or the role the government would play.
