KU climbs in rankings

Despite suffering its first loss of the season Friday at then No. 12-ranked Texas A&M, Kansas University’s volleyball team made a jump in the national rankings.

The American Volleyball Coaches Assn. poll, released Monday afternoon, tapped the Jayhawks (9-1) No. 21 this week — their highest-ever ranking. KU entered the poll last week at No. 24.

Five other Big 12 Conference schools were included in the Top 25. Nebraska (7th) and Texas A&M (11th) climbed, while Kansas State (19th) slipped and Texas (22nd) and Colorado (25th) were new.

The Jayhawks will play host to Texas Tech at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Horejsi Center.
