Baldwin routs rival Wellsville, 27-0

? Klay Garrison rushed for two touchdowns, and Baldwin High dominated Wellsville, 27-0, in the first football game between the longtime rivals in three years.

Baldwin (3-0) jumped to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and never allowed the Eagles to mount a charge. The Bulldogs outgained the Eagles 419-138 in total offensive yards.

Luke Halford and Jeremy Wright each added rushing touchdowns for Baldwin. Wright had 133 yards on 14 carries.

The Bulldogs will travel Friday to Louisburg.

Wellsville fell to 1-2.

De Soto 27, Central Heights 3

De Soto — Leif Goleman scored on runs of 9 and 40 yards, and De Soto won a battle of unbeatens.

Central Heights (2-1) took a 3-0 lead before De Soto (3-0) scored 27 unanswered points.

Danny Doherty scored on a 20-yard pass from Neil Erisman for De Soto’s first touchdown. Dustin Ester added a five-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter.

Goleman finished with 130 yards on 25 carries, and Erisman ran for 108 yards on 12 carries and was 4-of-9 passing for 46 yards.

McLouth 24, Doniphan West 7

Highland — Doniphan West keyed on McLouth running back Kevin Stewart, so the Bulldogs took to the air.

Jimmy Steffey completed 12 of 22 passes for 185 yards with four touchdowns, and McLouth improved to 3-0 — marking their first season with at least three wins since 1999.

“Our running back was averaging 190 yards a game, and they held him to 75, so our quarterback and receivers stepped up,” McLouth coach Harry Hester said. “That’s what we wanted.”

Trevor Keling had four catches for 60 yards and two TDs and also rushed for 33 yards.

McLouth held Doniphan West (1-2) to 139 yards off 40 carries and 169 total yards.

The Bulldogs will play host to Jefferson County North on Friday.

“Our kids expect to win,” Hester said. “But we keep ’em in check. We’re only a third of the way through the season.”

Anderson County 40, Perry-Lecompton 21

Perry — Tied at 7 at halftime, Anderson County exploded in the second half to pull away.

Sean Blosser rushed for 96 yards on 20 carries for the Kaws, and Cory McPherson added 92 yards on 19 carries.

Brian Beatty, Alex Hackathorn and Daniel Hemme each scored a touchdown for Perry-Lecompton (1-2).

Eudora 54, Prairie View 0

Eudora — Brendan Jackson scored three rushing touchdowns, James Mills added two touchdowns, and the Cardinals won in a rout.

Jeremy Bryant and Joe Kaup each caught touchdown passes from Kyle Brouhard, and Miles Cleveland added a rushing TD for the Cardinals (2-1).

Tonganoxie 17, K.C. Piper 14

Kansas City, Kan.– Jeff Hughes’ late 28-yard field goal lifted Tonganoxie to victory. The Chieftains improved to 3-0.

Louisburg 21, Ottawa 12

Ottawa — Aaron Douglas scored on an 18-yard run in the first quarter and a nine-yard run in the fourth for Ottawa.
