Henry Vernon Morrison

Services for Henry Vernon Morrison Sr., 85, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke’s A.M.E. Church. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Morrison died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 28, 1919, in Chetopa, the son of Edward Eugene and Lela Mae Bassett Morrison.

Mr. Morrison was a foreman for the Diamond Lumber Co., and attended St. Luke’s A.M.E. Church. He was also a member of Western Masonic Lodge.

He married Donna Cooper on May 31, 1950, in Miami, Okla. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include seven daughters, Tonya Turner and Stephanie Morrison, both of Topeka, Stacy Morrison, Seattle, Tranice Jones, Wichita, and Angela Morrison, Demetria Morrison and Annette Dabney, all of Lawrence; two sons, Henry Jr. and Edward, both of Wichita; a sister, Patricia Dejesus, New York; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
