Warmer weather expected for weekend

If you have outdoor activities in the next few days, you’ll like the upcoming weather forecast.

“We’ll have plenty of sunshine to enjoy,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist.
The next few days will bring warm, pleasant weather — with a slight chance of rain late Friday night and early Saturday morning — and afternoon temperatures climbing into the 90s, Schack said.

“Don’t put those shorts away yet. Keep them out for this weekend. It will be a warm one,” Schack said.

Temperatures were starting out in the low 50s this morning and were expected to climb to a high of 83 by late afternoon, with east winds between 5 and 10 mph.

Overnight, the temperature will fall to 56 by early Friday morning, under mostly clear skies and a waxing crescent moon, illuminated at 4 percent.

“Tomorrow’s high does increase just a bit,” Schack said.

The temperature will climb to 87 by late Friday afternoon, with a chance of rain coming late Friday night into early Saturday morning. The National Weather Service said the chance for rain is 20 percent after 1 a.m. Saturday.

Saturday morning’s low temperature will fall to 62, with partly cloudy skies. Saturday will be mostly sunny for Lawrence’s Sesquicentennial Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. at Watson Park and heads south on Massachusetts Street through Lawrence’s downtown.

Temperature will climb to 90 by late Saturday afternoon. Saturday night will be mostly clear, with a low of 63 by early Sunday morning.

Sunday will be partly cloudy, with the high reaching 91 by late afternoon.
