Jayhawks 12th at Ridges

? Kansas University’s men’s golf team placed 12th in a 15-team field at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at The Ridges, which concluded Sunday at The Ridges Golf and Country Club.

Tennessee won the team title with a three-round total of 854 strokes. Kansas shot 884 and moved up from 14th with a final-round score of 293.

Big 12 Conference foe Oklahoma dropped from first to fourth with a final-round 298 and finished with 870 strokes.

“We played a little bit better (Sunday),” KU coach Ross Randall said. “The golf course played tougher, and we had some chances to move up, but we just missed our opportunities.”

Kevin Ward led the Jayhawks with a three-round total of 216 strokes, good for a tie for 10th place. Other KU scores: Tyler Docking, tied for 33rd, 221; Andrew Price, tied for 35th, 222; Gary Woodland, tied for 59th, 226; and Barrett Martens, tied for 73rd, 233.

Kansas will serve as host for the Kansas Invitational on Sept 20 at Alvamar Country Club.
