Winifred G. Griggs

Mrs. Griggs died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at Elmhaven Nursing Home in Parsons.

She was born Sept. 27, 1909, in Parsons, the daughter of Arthur and Alice Swales Humphries. She graduated from Parsons High School in 1928.

Mrs. Griggs was a member of the First Christian Church of Parsons. She worked at the Parsons State Hospital and Training Center for 21 years, retiring in 1974.

She married Ernest M. Griggs. They later divorced.

Survivors include two daughters, Florence Gay McKinney, Parsons, and Diana Louise Spriggs, Baldwin; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A daughter, Elizabeth May Barnes, died in June. A grandson also died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Parsons.
