Genevieve Oroke

? Services for Genevieve “Genny” L. Oroke, 81, Oskaloosa, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett Funeral Home, Oskaloosa. Burial will be in McLouth Cemetery.

Mrs. Oroke died Friday, Sept. 3, 2004, at her home.

She was born June 11, 1923, in Topeka, the daughter of Harry Holford and Lena Catherine Ottinger Barney. She attended Seaman schools.

She worked at Packerware in Lawrence for 10 years, retiring in 1988. She also was a housekeeper for Cherokee Lodge in Oskaloosa.

Mrs. Oroke was a former member of the East Side Baptist Church in Topeka, a former Brownie Scout leader in Rossville and a member of the National Cornhuskers Assn.

She married Thomas Fairbanks on Oct. 12, 1941. He was reported missing in action in 1943 during World War II. She married Lawrence Reser on Jan. 22, 1946. They later divorced. She married Ray V. Oroke on July 29, 1953, in Lexington, Mo. He survives, of the home.

Other survivors include a son, Larry Reser, El Paso, Texas; three daughters, Donna Fairbanks, Oskaloosa, Carol Fairbanks, Lawrence, and Karen Barney, Kansas City, Mo.; a brother, Ivan Barney, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
