Alice L. Burroughs

? Services for Alice L. Burroughs, 89, Grantville, were at Penwell-Gabel Parker-Price Chapel in Topeka.

Mrs. Burroughs died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2004, at her home.

She was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Washington, D.C, the daughter of William Dorsey and Minnie Irene Cox Canter.

Mrs. Burroughs studied classical ballet at King-Smith School for Girls and Washington School of Ballet.

She taught dance to children in Maryland and Kansas. In Topeka, she taught classes sponsored by Topeka Parks and Recreation, the YWCA and Joe Domme Dance Studios.

Mrs. Burroughs was a co-founder of Dance Arts of Topeka, and a member of Y-Matrons Toastmistresses and Women of the Moose.

She married Dean Burroughs in 1965.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Delores Sharp and Anita Sharp, both of Topeka, Madeline Tollefson, Lecompton, and Lori Sharp, Littleton, Colo.; a brother, James Stanley Carter; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
