K.C. shelves Boerigter
Kansas City, Mo. ? Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Marc Boerigter was placed on injured reserve Wednesday after injuring his knee without taking a hit in a preseason game. Boerigter was hurt Saturday night in the first quarter of the Chiefs’ game against Cleveland.
After a good training camp, he was expected to be the team’s third receiver.
He had been scheduled to have knee surgery Monday, but that was delayed after the third-year receiver decided to get other opinions from doctors about whether the surgery was necessary.
Boerigter, 6-foot-3, 220, has appeared in 31 games with the Chiefs in the past two seasons, averaging almost 19 yards on 31 catches. He had an NFL record-tying 99-yard touchdown reception against San Diego in 2002.
