County candidate points to her independence

Marguerite Ermeling, independent candidate for the 3rd District Douglas County Commission seat, said she favored maintaining Douglas County’s “rural nature” during a World Online chat Wednesday.

She said the single biggest difference between her and incumbent Commissioner Jere McElhaney, a Republican, was that she had no ties to the “development community.”

The full transcript of Ermeling’s chat is available at www.ljworld.com.

At 1 p.m. today, 2nd District Kansas Senate candidate Jim Mullins will do a chat. Mullins is the Reform candidate vying against incumbent Sen. Mark Buhler, a Republican, and Marci Francisco, a Democrat.
