Fog advisory issued for area

Dense fog and some drizzle were creating visibility problems on area roadways this morning. And more gray cloudy weather is expected for the rest of the day.

“It’s kind of dreary again this morning,” said Jennifer Schack, 6News meteorologist. Schack said the National Weather Service has issued a dense fog advisory for Leavenworth and Wyandotte counties. The fog was expected to hang around until about 11 a.m., she said.

“Be extra careful on your way out to work and school,” she said. Lawrence is expected to get some morning drizzle and will be mostly cloudy throughout the day.

“The few showers out there are keeping to the south of us,” she said.

Temperatures were starting out in the low 60s this morning, with humidity level at 93 percent. Today’s high won’t get much warmer, climbing to only 68, she said.

Cloud cover will put a damper on any viewing of tonight’s total lunar eclipse, which will from 8:14 p.m. to 11:54 p.m., she said.

Overnight, the temperature will dip to 60 by Thursday morning. Thursday’s high will be 76.

“We could see a light shower tomorrow morning, and another chance on Friday,” she said. The National Weather Service says the chance for showers and thunderstorms is 20 percent on Thursday and Thursday night and 30 percent on Friday.

Friday’s morning low will be 64, climbing to a high of 76.
