Charles W. Ingle Sr.

Graveside services for Charles W. Ingle Sr., 95, Parsons, will be at Washington Creek Cemetery near Lone Star. Military honors will be conducted by Fort Riley funeral detail.

Mr. Ingle died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, at Good Samaritan Center in Parsons.

He was born June 13, 1909, in Baldwin, the son of William Grant and Amelia Ann Rissen Ingle. He grew up and attended school in Baldwin.

Mr. Ingle worked for Durbin Plumbing and Servatis Plumbing, both in Ottawa. He then served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe and was wounded in action on D-Day during the invasion of Normandy. After the war he worked at Kansas University in the buildings and grounds department until he retired in 1970. During his retirement he lived in Arkansas, Erie and Parsons, where he had lived for the last 20 years.

He married Dorothy Arlene Johnson on July 5, 1941, in Lone Star. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth L., Columbia, Mo., and Charles W. Jr., Lawrence; and a daughter, Janice M. Ingle, Topeka.

Another daughter, Linda Sue Ingle, died earlier.
