Florence Louise Beers

? Graveside services for Florence Louise Beers, 82, Lawrence, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Clinton Cemetery.

Mrs. Beers died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Eudora Nursing Center.

She was born April 16, 1922, in Lawrence, the daughter of Simon Peter and Lulu Catherine Warren Owens. She attended Argentine schools.

Mrs. Beers worked at Lawrence Laundry and Kansas University Housekeeping Department. She retired Oct. 28, 1985. She was a member of Lawrence Women’s Bowling Assn. and participated in several bowling tournaments. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lawrence.

She married Howard Kenneth Mooney on Nov. 4, 1939, in Leavenworth. He died Oct. 12, 1964. She married Henry Beers. They divorced.

A son, James Edward Mooney, died in 1969.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda K. Burton, Baldwin, and Wanda L. Adams, Lawrence; three sons, Kevin W. Mooney, Perry, and Charles K. Mooney and David Joe Mooney, both of Lawrence; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials to Heart of America Hospice, Douglas County Visiting Nurses Assn. or the church, sent in care of the mortuary.
