James Grant Jarrett

? Services for James Grant Jarrett, 80, Parsons, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Christian Church in Parsons. Burial will be in North Edna Cemetery in Parsons.

Mr. Jarrett died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Elmhaven West Nursing Home in Parsons from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

He was born July 13, 1924, near Dennis, the son of William W. and Agnes C. Skellenger Jarrett. He graduated from Dennis High School and was a lifelong resident of Labette County.

Mr. Jarrett served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 260th Field Artillery in the Pacific. He worked for the Parsons Sun newspaper, where he became press superintendent until he retired in 1988.

He married Leta M. Hiebsch on June 11, 1947, in Coffeyville. She survives, of the home.

Other survivors include three daughters, Sheryl Dodge, Houston, Cathy Jarrett and Christi Jarrett, both of Lawrence; two sons, Steve, Overland Park, and Greg, Parsons; two sisters, Ruth Hucke, Altamont, and Susie Darling, Coffeyville; four grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Parsons.
