6News video: Art a la Carte

It only seems appropriate as Election Day approaches that the weekend entertainment options would be both frightening and political.

First, the scary. Saturday evening at the Hereford House, a noted psychic will invite diners into her parlor for a Halloween supper and seance when the Leavenworth Players Group stages “Murder at Madam Conundrum’s or Ghost Who’s Coming to Dinner.” Viewers will be challenged to solve the crime during this interactive dinner theater murder mystery. The investigation begins at 6:30.

At the Spencer Museum of Art, an exhibition of images by 1960s photographer Diane Arbus opens tomorrow in the Kress Gallery. Known for her haunting images of societal outsiders, Arbus focuses more on family units in this show. “Diane Arbus: Family Albums” remains on view through Jan. 16.

And now for the political. Lawrence Community Theatre will perform “Dear George: Letters to the President” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The reader’s theater play is a nonpartisan compilation of real letters to President George W. Bush that put human faces behind the divisive poll numbers being reported in the news.
