New Drew Carey show not so funny this time

Now in its second week, “Drew Carey’s Green Screen Show” (7:30 p.m., WB) is based on a confusing concept. Carey and his pals, including his “Whose Line is It Anyway?” partners Colin Mochrie and Greg Proops, act out scenes and recite lines suggested by the live studio audience, who watch the comedians perform on a bare stage with a green screen behind them. This performance is then sent to a technical lab and animated by projecting computer-generated images onto the green backdrop. So we get to see Drew and crew dressed as cowboys wearing oversized hats, hugely expectant mothers giving birth to infant twins (each with Drew Carey’s head) and other gags. Despite such computer wizardry, the studio audience seems to be having more fun than home viewers.

  • If the commercials are to be believed, tonight’s “Survivor” (7 p.m., CBS) promises shocks, surprises and even an earthquake. But it will take more than a seismic tremor to shake this season’s “Survivor” out of its current torpor.
  • Game Two of the National League Championship series (7 p.m., Fox).
  • Another year, another candle on “Will & Grace” (7:30 p.m., NBC).
  • A dark harvest on “CSI” (8 p.m., CBS).
  • Fashion design on “The Apprentice” (8 p.m., NBC).
  • A missing subject believes that aliens have abducted him on “Without a Trace” (9 p.m., CBS).
  • An infected donor’s organs cause concern on “ER” (9 p.m., NBC).
  • Scheduled on “PrimeTime” (9 p.m., ABC): the military’s indifference to veterans of the Iraq conflict returning home with catastrophic injuries; a hidden camera report on ethical dilemmas.
